12/31/2022 0 Comments 94 c1500 dash swap guide![]() ![]() You're probably going to be miles ahead just stripping out everything under the hood and replacing it with the '94 electrical system. You may be fine with with just transferring the major bundles, but you may have to take the entire harness.Īs you know the '99 has the second distribution panel out under the hood. Cross check compatibility with the '94 plugs. In order to make it all work, take the two harnesses and go from one side of the dash to the other and identify every plug for each sensor, accessory, and the like. 15mm nuts for the removable section and the steering wheel support braces. There's a steel brace under the steering wheel with 10mm screws. 13mm bolts in the cross beam support on either side just above the kick panels. The best way to pull it off is to unbolt and slide the driver seat back out of the way so you can drop the steering wheel to the floor. Taking out the '99 dash is tedious, but not terrible. Trying to use the existing harness with OBD1 might work, but since you have both donors, it's a lot easier to just move everything. It took combing through about seven schematics to get my 5.7 running right with the '95 wiring and that's still staying with OBD1. If you're feeling adventurous, you can try to cut over the '94 computer. The '94 ECM has different connectors than the '99. The '94 computer is OBD1 and the '99 is OBD2. Now, the 94 has a completely different computer and comm system as you know. ![]()
